changing phone service provider

I have an iphone XS and I am switching from AT&T to Spectrum for my cell service. Given the current quarantine we're all under, I'm planning to install the sim card myself (they sent it to me). Is there anything I should be aware of in terms of proper steps and/or data that might be lost? My phone is cloud synced so shouldn't need to be backed up, right?
