If iPad isn’t responding, do one of the following:
If iPad still doesn’t turn on, or if it gets stuck during start up, see the Apple Support article If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t turn on or is frozen.

Screen stays black. This happened before and I went to the Apple Store. I think the staffer pushed a small reset button which no one could find unless they knew where to look, but that’s been quite awhile ago and I can’t find it now.
Why not? What happens when you try to turn it on?
How are you trying to turn it on?
How did you turn it off exactly?
Turned it off by holding top and side buttons until option to turn off appeared then slid to off. Tried restarting same way but nothing happens.
Try plugging it in to power and see if it comes back on.
Or follow LotusPilot's suggestion.
There is no reset button on an iPad. You reset it as explained in Lotuspilot's post.
Thanks. None of the options worked so contacting Apple Support.
