Do I need an HDMI splitter to connect the Apple TV hardware if both the TV's HDMI ports are in use?

A splitter splits the signal (1 in, 2 or more out). You’ll want the reverse: an HDMI switch (several in, 1 out).

Some HDMI switches come with a remote, then you don’t have to get up to do the switching.
