Edirol FA-66 to late 2016 Mac

Hi. I am trying to connect my old Edirol FA-66 sound card to a newly purchased late 2016 mac. On my 2014 Mac I used a firewire 1394 to thunderbolt adaptor, but the late 2016 mac has thunderbolt 3. What is my best bet?

You could either try a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2/1 adapter. and Apple does make a Thunderbolt adapter with a firewire port on it. It's not Thunderbolt 3, just Thunderbolt. Buying and connecting the two should give you the result you're looking for

good luck

Today I finally bought my 16" MacBook Pro and also the TB2 -> TB3 (USB-C) adapter + the Firewire to TB2 adapter and connected my old Edirol FA-66. Surprisingly it all works very fine, the Edirol can be powered by the Macbook through the USB-C interface with 2 adapters in between. Also latency is great, Logic shows 10ms and when recording guitar with Amp designer and input monitoring enabled, I do not notice any latency, it nearly plays like a "real" amp. Hope that helps people thinking of such combinations that they do not have to worry.
