asking for a password i do not have

i factory reset my iphone 6 and now im trying to set it up again and its asking for a 6 digit password on the hello screen, i never used a six digit password and nor did the previous owner who boight it new. how do i get about this as ive checked if its on either of our accounts or find my iphone still and its not

Apple ID Account Recovery without Trusted Phone Number I made the mistake of changing a phone number on our family plan before I removed the passcode from the phone. When I acted like I wanted to remove the passcode, it is forcing me to put in the icloud password from the account the phone is attached to. I cannot remember the password and it won't let me change it unless I have access to the (previous) phone number or the icloud email itself!! It's a vicious cycle!! Any ideas? Password or passcode?

Passcode - If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled.

Thanks I’ll give it a try, the phone doesn’t seem to want to connect to my laptop but changes fine
