Magic Mouse 2 (wireless) won't charge. Showing 0%

My NEW mouse, I just bought in March 2019 isn't charging!??!! I tried plugging it in the wall outlet, laptop (Mac Book Pro), a brand new surge protector... nothing! Tried 2 diff cords and nope. I borrowed the same mouse from someone else and it plugs in and charges fine with these same cords. For mine, It says it's "connected" thru bluetooth, but ONLY when i plug it into my laptop! And says it's "charging" but stays at "0% charge"???, even after charging it overnight several hours... shouldn't need to do that. Haven't used it much in the last few months or so, it just sits on my desk cause i've been busy. So it was never dropped, etc. It was working a week ago "briefly", then stopped, so I tried charging it and it hasn't charged since. HELP!!! Thanks :(
