Podcast App

Hi, I'm having issues with the Apple Podcast App. I noticed serious battery drain because of the app about one week ago and then I realized I couldn't even open the app. I have tried deleting the app and reinstalling but it's still no use- the app won't open and all that happens is severe battery drain (I even noticed the back of the phone heating up probably because it's trying to load the app!)

I've got all the latest updates and I'm not finding anything recent about this online. Am I alone on this one? Should I just reset the phone?
