There is no way to expand the hard drive/memory space on an ipad. What you have is what you have. Say you purchased a 16 gig ipad, you will have about 13 gig of functional space. You can clear up some of that 13 gig by deleting stuff you are not using, but will never have more than that 13 gig.

Depends on what you are doing and what you are storing/saving on that iPad.

BTW,

The practical storage of a 16 GBs iPad is only about 11 GBs as an iOS device, especially an iPad, needs to maintain 2-3 GBs of free, internal data storage space, at all times.

A 64 GBs iPad after formatting and installation of iOS/iPadOS will be approx. 54 GBs.

Maintaining a 2-3 GBs minimum for iPadOS performance, that leaves you with approx between 50-51 GBs of usable storage space.

If you feel this is enough space for what you do with an iPad, then you are good!

It is 5 times the usable storage space of a 16 GBs iPad model.

You can find used or slightly damaged iPads on Amazon cheaper.

On Amazon for only $60 more than Apple's own asking price for a 64 GBs storage model, 2019 iPad Mini 5th gen, Amazon has packaging damaged ONLY 2019, WiFi ONLY, 256 GBs storage, space gray iPad Mini 5th gen for $460 U.S.D., which is a $90 discount/savings over a brand new unit from Apple.

These slightly damaged ( sometimes only damaged packaging and not always the actual device ) devices will NOT have any damage that will affect the device’s normal operation.

In addition, Amazon has its own warranty plan for covering electronics devices that are new, used or slightly damaged.

Amazon’s own warranty plans for electronics devices go to up to 4-years of warranty coverage.

Best of Luck to You!
