Walking/exercise credit

I set my walk for an outdoor walk. I walked for 37 minutes but my watch says I exercised for 11 minutes. Why is that?

Fitness app is daft I had logged 10 minutes of exercise today. Then I made a trip to the recycling bend, about a 5-min walk, and I look at my watch and it now says 7 minutes of exercise. How is that possible? The whole fitness stuff is very dodgy. I’ve gone for long walks and it shows zip on my watch. Didn’t even record it. Then I’ve just done out shopping and suddenly I rack up all kinds of minutes doing what is generally not a work out at all. Until the app gets better, I really am hesitant to rely on it as any sort of accurate measure of my activity.

Watch series 3 When I walk, I set the walk app. I walk 2 miles for 50 or so minutes. Yet the watch tells me I’m only done 20 minutes of my 30 minute exercise, not closing my exercise ring

Thank you. I am usually walking the dog which decreases walking speed. It’s a series 5.
