Can I delete Mac backup if I use Icloud?

I have been using my mac to backup my iphone for awhile. My mac didn't have a lot of storage so I decided to get icloud and back my phone up to it. I successfully backed my phone up to icloud, so does that mean I can delete the backup that is currently on my mac? Will it still be saved?
