Why does my Mac randomly crash

Sometimes if I’m playing Sims 4 or watching something on sky go, my Mac will just randomly crash. It will restart itself after about 10 seconds but you’ll have lost anything unsaved. Please can someone advise how to fix this?

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.13

What is the Model of this?

Enter your serial number here to find out: Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support. From there, see if you have the option for service.

Plug in an external keyboard, and see if you can reset your SMC and NVRAM. Sometimes changes are made to the system and then settings (i.e. for the screen) become manipulated, technically. So, reset both on your Mac. Then see if this all stops.

  • Boot into Safe Mode:

Hold Down shift key upon boot. In Safe Mode all temporary files (i.e. caches) and unnecessary preferences are placed aside. So, it would run on its least-necessary processing.

  • Create a New Administrator:

If logged in, create a new Administrator User. Then log in, using that Administrator. If it all works with the new Administrator, but not in this current user, then it is something configured in your current user. So, transfer everything over to the newly-created Administrator user, and trash this current user. You should be fine from there.

  • Loose Connections:

Note that my 2017 MacBook Pro had screen issues of this sort. Having sent it in 11 times for coverage, it got replaced and upgraded for no more than the price of my AppleCare Plus protection. The issue is that the plug between the screen and the LogicBoard came loose, and it would never stay connected.

  • Place this on a Laptop Cooler:

I would let this set aside in an open location (not in the corner or the room, nor in a closet), setting it cool down lover night. The next day, boot the up anew.
