Is it possible to record arm strokes with an apple watch while swimming stationary? (With a swim harness)

It might be more suitable to use another workout type not a swim workout because the swim workouts measure number of laps or distance swam and in your case neither of these will be recorded because you are stationary.Here is the list of workouts available;
