Cannot access icloud.com on Safari browser any longer

Hello

I am no longer able to access my icloud account when going to icloud.com using Safari on my iMac. I can access it using a different browser such as Firefox. And I can access it on my laptop which is running the same version of Safari and MacOS. So it has something to do with my browser on my iMac only.

I believe it started at some point when I asked it to keep me logged in (or the equivalent to that command) when signing in. So now on this machine when I go to icloud.com, it just spins its timer like its trying to log me in, but never does and eventually gives an error. The log-in screen never comes up (which is why I'm assuming it may have to do with when I selected the keep me logged in option). I can't seem to log out or get it to forget being logged in on this browser to try and solve the issue.

Any suggestions would be great? I tried deleting history and cookies, but still won't pull up the sign in screen on my iMac / Safari only. Thank you!

iMac 21.5", macOS 10.13

Hey there melange,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues accessing your account in iCloud.com from Safari. I’ll be happy to help.

It sounds like you’ve taken some good steps so far. Just to be sure you’ve covered all the basics, go through the steps in these links:

Trouble signing in to iCloud.com

If you can’t open a website in Safari on Mac

If the issue continues after that, boot into safe mode and see if you can log in using Safari there:

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Also, click on Safari > Preferences from the Mac menu bar and click on Privacy > Manage Website Data. Remove the info for iCloud there. Quit Safari and try loading it again.

Regards.

Hi melange,

Thanks for going through those steps and providing that info. Do you have any virus protection apps installed on your Mac? If so, turn those off and see if that helps. Also, see if you can access iCloud from Safari on a new Mac user account:

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

If these steps and safe mode do not help, you can reach out to Apple Support at the following link to look further into this with you:

Take care.

Thanks for your time brenden dv

I had my hopes on that last suggestion in your list as I remembered there being something like that as an option. I tried it and unfortunately it did not work in this instance. The first two on your list I looked through and the steps there did not fit with the specific part of a website and sign-in I'm having, so no luck there either. The Can't Open A Website had a couple possibilities but didn't end up doing the trick either.

Strangely, I did notice when I came to support to reply that I also now cannot sign in to Apple Support using my Safari browser on my iMac either. I click the Sign In navigation and I get this immediately (I'll attach the screen image):

I can sign in just fine using Firefox. So again, something with Safari, and quite possibly my ID not jiving right now ... ??? If that's even a thing??

Here is the Connection Error that pops up when I go to icloud.com and it attempts to just sign me in (it never shows me the Enter Apple ID box anymore.) After about 20 seconds this pops up (I'll attach this image too):

Not sure if any of that further info helps or attempts narrow things down. If it doesn't spark anymore specific ideas I can eventually try the safe mode suggestions as I have a bit more time.

Thanks again

Thanks sarah_s1

I do not have any virus protection apps running, so no luck there. I was able to get around to setting up a test user account on my mac, and I was still unable to get the Sign-In screen to come up when I go to icloud.com using Safari. Works fine using other browsers (Firefox and Chrome) in the test account just as it does in my main user account. So it seems isolated to Safari, but Safari on the machine as a whole. Not just my main user account.

I tested the oddity again on the new Mac user account where I go to Apple Support webpage and try to sign in using my Safari browser and it still instantly goes to the "Safari Can't Open This Page" window.

I tried signing out of icloud on my mac, turning off icloud drive, etc. Didn't seem to help.

Thank you though
