Need help with Facebook App on iPAD Air 3

I am having an issue with notifications on Facebook on my iPAD Air 3, it is something specific to this device as the error does not occur on my iPhone or home PC.

The notifications tab on the Facebook app shows the red circle indicating notifications, however everytime I click on it, I get the spinning wheel of death and nothing loads, I have let it run for as long as 5 minutes. I have even uninstalled and reinstalled the app.

I am assuming there is some setting I am not aware of.

Also, it worked fine until 4 days ago?
