Updating my iPhone 6

My phone says I don't have enough storage to update. I have deleted everything and still can't update.

Can I buy more phone storage not iCloud storage? If so where?

iPhone 5c, iOS 10

Hey there darlys98,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having some issues updating your iPhone due to storage. I’ll be happy to help with this.

In most cases, ‘if there isn't enough space to download and install an update, your device temporarily removes some downloadable parts of installed apps. You shouldn't need to remove or relocate any content. If you still need more space than you have on your device, there are a few ways you can update:

  • Plug your device into your computer to update using your computer.
  • Delete content from your device and try to update again.
  • Manage the storage on your device with recommendations.’

You can read more about this here:

If you need more space for an update

As for purchasing more storage. You can always get more iCloud storage but not device storage. That is hardware that cannot be changed. One thing that may help is to check what is using your device storage up. If you’re deleting apps but still don’t have enough space, check to see if it’s related to photos, videos, or something like that. You can read more about this here:

Regards.
