If it is a 1st Generation Magic Trackpad, a blinking light indicates it is not paired to a computer.
You would go to System Preferences -> Bluetooth
Find your Magic Trackpad in the list of devices
and click Connect.

Hello,
Apple’s Magic Trackpad takes 2 AA batteries. If your trackpad uses 3 batteries then it is not an official Apple product.
unfortunately, the blinking green button doesn’t allow the track pad to connect to computer.....that is the whole problem. It is an official Apple product- using 2AA batteries. Somehow it just isn’t making the contact
