Mac startup without mouse

The easiest method is to turn off the login without the password. Use https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201476 for instructions.

If your existing mouse is no longer working, you can use just about any generic USB mouse with your iMac.

If your keyboard is working and you need to login, then you might be able to use the arrow keys to get to the login panel.
