Do you need antivirus software with an iPhone, I have an iPhone Xs Max and I have been told from workmates that use Samsung that my phone may be unsecure because I should install antivirus software on my iPhone.

You do not need (and actually cannot use) antivirus software on an iPhone. The architecture of iOS will not give enough levels of permission to allow an antivirus to work effectively. It is this very tight access control that makes an antivirus unnecessary. You probably do need antivirus on an Android device, however.

I think your friends are misinformed. You can tell them an iPhone cannot get a virus, BUT their Android phones can.
