Using Garage Band to record and monitor audio with Ipad pro 2020

Hi

I am new to this ipad pro 2020, with only usb c and no 3.5mm jack for either headphones or plugging in audio devices (mics etc).

I am trying to use garagegband to multi track record using the built in mics and monitor the audio at the same time. When I plug headphones into the usb c port it seems to cut out the built in mics. With earlier ipads, with 3.5 jack ports, you caould multi track and monitor the audio.

Is this not possible? If so, I just spent a lot of money on something way inferior for my needs....

Exactly the same problem here. It is very disappointing that this basic functionality isn’t working. I understand that these times most of the people are using Bluetooth headphones but for audio recording and monitoring it is necessary to have a cable to prevent latency issues. I have also the first iPad Air with a 3,5 jack output. I could use this setup over years without any problem. Now, I decided to upgrade to the newest iPad Pro model because of its improved onboard microphones to use this for a better quality recording. Realizing that it isn’t useable at all is really frustrating. It’s pity because the microphone quality is really good for doing some semiprofessional recording. To make musicians happy you should implement an audio setup menu where you can choose different audio sources for the in and output like it is realized in Mac OS.

Thanks for getting a feedback on that!

I have the same problem. I’m already thinking about selling the iPad Pro and buying cheap one. Because this is ridiculous, I can not work with it in music production in Pro model, but I can with iPad Mini. Show me that human that decided to get rid of headphone jack and didn’t add input/output settings. I really want to spit on his face 😒 Because I spent 1500 USD for useless piece of hardware.
