Apple pencil won't connect to my iPad (7th generation)

Hey,


I just bought my new iPad (7th generation) and apple pencil (1st generation) yesterday. Unfortunately I can't get the pencil to connect with the iPad.

I've tried


  • Following Apples instructions on how to connect and what do if it won't - still nothing changes.
  • I've charged the pencil for a couple of hours both in the iPad and the seperate charge.
  • Updated the iPad system to the newest IOS
  • Restarted the iPad


Any ideas what to do?
