Dictation does not work

If I'm understanding correctly, dictation on your Mac is not working as expected. Dictation is a great feature of macOS, and I will be glad to assist.

To get started, do you have Webroot SecureAnywhere installed on your Mac? If so, this might be causing an issue with dictation. See this resource: 

If you can’t use Dictation or type accented characters on your Mac, or select emoji in the Touch Bar of your MacBook Pro

Additionally, third-party dictation software can also interfere with macOS dictation. You can check by selecting Apple menu  > System Preferences > Keyboard > Dictation.
