Apple Watch won't open to apps

My Apple Watch won't open to access the apps (no passcode setup). I have tried the hard restart and nothing has worked. I thought maybe it were the buttons but I believe they both work still (digital crown for sure does) not 100% on the side button working properly but it does respond to holding it down and showing emergency/shut off options. I also disconnected it from my iPhone and since I can't access my apps/settings I guess I can't sync it back either. Please help! Not sure if this is hardware issue, button issue?

Hi aschuutz,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I see you're having an issue with accessing apps on your Apple watch and I'd like to help out.

First, just to clarify, when you want to view the app view, you just need to single short press the Digital Crown. You should then see the apps installed on your watch as a list view or grid view. (To change from one to the other, long press on that screen, then the options will appear, tap the one you want.) Apple Watch User Guide can be super helpful.

OK, you mentioned that you unpaired your watch, and would like to pair it back again. The steps to pair again, are the same as the initial set up. Check them out here: Set up your Apple Watch

If you're still not able to access any apps on your watch, the next step is to unpair and erase your watch this time.

Unpair and erase your Apple Watch

Then set your watch up again, as shown in the first article I shared.

That should take care of it. If not, please reply back with the exact steps you are doing, with what happens after each step. That will help us to determine what could be happening.

Take care!
