Sudden crash of bootcamp resulting in broken Windows and inability to plug in USB drives on MacOS.

Hi,

I've been using my MacBook Pro 13 2016 for both MacOS and Windows10 via BootCamp.

Two days ago when I was working on Windows it suddenly froze and a reboot resulted in a blue screen with BIOS error message.

Fortunately I was able to access my Windows files from MacOS.

I tried to remove Windows via bootcamp app and reinstall it but even installation resulted in same blue-screen and an error message.

Now I tried to backup all my data to an external hard drive and create a bootable MacOS installer and setup my computer from scratch. But both my flash drives and external hard drives do not show up in MacOS. I'm connecting them through Apple HDMI Adapter. The hard drive spins but does not show up.

I can try to offload all my data via LAN and I can create a bootable MacOS drive at my uncles place but in current situation it seems not ideal and I would prefer a different solution.

But the most important question is: Even if I will be able to create an USB bootable MacOS install will it even install if my Mac does not seem to see any USB storage?

BTW. the HDMI Apple adapter shows up in System report and sends data from a mouse dongle. Also power passthrough works correctly. It sends power and spins the USB HDD so it seems to work correctly.

What can be the issue?

Sincerely

Oskar M.

The 2016 MBPs do not support using external media to install Windows. If you created a W10 installer using Microsoft's Media Creation Tool, you will also need to add Apple BC drivers for it to boot the Mac correctly.

If you are able to see files from macOS Finder, the NTFS layer is intact, which may indicate an incorrect driver, or a bad Windows Update. Does Windows boot in Safe Mode? Do you see the Windows Recovery console if Windows fails to boot?
