SMS messages turns to iMessage

Why when I send a friend a text it shows up as SMS but when he replies it comes back as iMessage? In my contacts it shows it as an iPhone. They recognize eachother just by number. He has an iPhone too. Has had an iPhone since he got the number so there shouldn’t be an android number or anything g android associated with it... or is there? It’s very confusing

Phone number label on your device's contact list has nothing to do with this. Having an iPhone after Android with the same number also has no role to play in this scenario.

iMessage requires internet connection.

For your Internet connection.

  • Over Cellular: contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider). The agency who issued the SIM to you
  • Over WiFI: Contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider), the agency who provided the Internet Service on your Modem/Router to you

Now the only question is how do you get an iMessage when there is no internet while sending. You need to check you device's network coverage and identify black hole zones in your area.

Ok, but I’m at home when I sent them so I have internet.. he replied just now and when I sent back it was blue. I asked if he was at home he said yes.. I asked why if mine does the same and he said yes.. also I notice EVERY TIME I send him a text or him me either the camera is on or FaceTime is on... why would sending him or him me activate either one??
