iOS 13.4.1 battery drain
I have updated my iPad mini 2019 two days ago and battery is practically worst ever. By browsing only drops 1% per minute. Anyone experiencing same problem?

Yes, turning it OFF and ON again is a basic trouble shooting step most people know about,
and no it did NOT fix the issue. Battery drain is still a problem on my iPad.
I updated my iPhone XS Max and it does not exhibit the same problem.
Both devices were charged at the same time overnight and used about the same amount of time today:
for the last 18 months the battery performance has always been within 5% over a 24 hour period.
FYI: I have a degree in Applied Computing and one in Computer Science and have worked as a computer engineer and QA
specialist for over 20 years, I know when a OS or firmware update changes the operation of a device and Apple has missed something this time around, please be up upfront and just admit an error was made and fix it.
Thanks,
Alf.
Despite your clearly articulated academic achievements, you are evidently of the belief that here you are addressing Apple - assuming that contributors herein are able to change the coding of the system or Apps. Whilst being credited with such influence is indeed gratifying, it might be constructive to provide some enlightenment In this regard.
Everyone here is an end-user customer, just like you. Apple does not participate within these technical forums. Contributors here attempt to share the benefit of their knowledge and expertise with others that seek assistance with product issues...
As such, in context of your final comment, there is nothing that we can do to “admit error” or “fix” anything. The best that any of us can do, noting that many contributors here are very knowledgable (and in some cases, exceedingly well qualified) is to provide guidance in trying to resolve or work-around your explicit problem.
In responding to your plea for help, we simply seek to help where we can.
In acknowledging your expertise in the field of computing, you will of course understand that no computing system can ever hope to be perfect - and that sometimes unexpected or isolated issues do occur. No amount of QA will ever hope to capture every conceivable edge-case or potential problem.
Same here. 2018 iPad Pro 12.9" After 13.4.1 update battery life is much worse. I always run my devices at full bright (don't judge me) but even with that I would use about 15% per hour doing some web browsing, Twitter and YouTube videos. After the update it's draining at a rate of 22% per hour under the same use. I've resorted to doing a wipe and setting it up as new but still seeing the same poor battery life (yes I waited until it was done indexing). Battery health is still good (98%) with 105 charge cycles. Usually have Apple's Smart Keyboard or a Brydge Pro keyboard attached to it with a Magic Mouse 2. Side note: I'm always amazed at how much space gets freed up after a wipe.
I have a MacBook so that takes a lot of workload off of my iPad Pro 12.9
Generally i plug my MacBook in when working so that I can not worry about the number of hours I end up putting in.
Mostly I use my iPad as a digital book. That is one of the big reasons I bought it.
Yes, i have been facing similar problem in iOS 13.4 in iPhone xS. I have found many threads for such issue. Not sure, what the solution is.
However, in my device, the earpiece is overheating extremely badly. Apple would need to issue new iOS soon to rectify

I have an iPhone 7 plus, and it has 13.4.1 on it and the age of the phone's battery tells me time for a replacement pretty soon
I have not noticed undue battery drain my iPhone or my iPad.
This makes me speculate some app is using more power, check the settings and battery to see if any apps stick out
This has happened immediately after iOS 13.4 update and hence worried.
How to identify which App is causing much pressure on CPU (I could not find anything in >Settings>Battery>Battery Health; since I have removed SIM card since 1 day out of phone). Eve after removal of SIM and starting phone after 1 day, It becomes HOT and Battery drips at much faster pace.
Under Settings>Battery>Battery Health : I could not find any apps consuming battery since I have removed SIM card since 1 day to test / identify the root cause. Hope it get's resolved faster. It is impacting the work from home situation considering COVID19 scenario.
I have an 8+ phone and a mini 4 iPad. I usually don’t have a problem updating either. Moving to iOS 13 on the phone gave me some battery drop for a couple days and it corrected itself. I resisted updating the iPad for months and finally caved. I know it would have to be updated sometime so I did it and have had battery problems immediately and since. I’ve been through all updates since with hope it will fix, but no luck. Been through all the supposed fixes, which is pretty much crap as they don’t fix programming problems, and have deleted some apps. still at 20% drop per hour of usage. Safari, Netflix, YouTube, eBay, does not matter, drain is almost double what it was.. battery has dropped 5% since I got on this thread. I just downloaded 13.4.1, will install later. We’ll see. I truly think Apple created this problem and wish they would address it. Battery drain was always the horror story of updating, it bit me in the *** now. I didn’t develop a hardware problem coincidentally with the update, unless the update created the problem.
Please do an iCloud backup of all your apps and settings, pictures, music, etc. and either reset settings or do a full reset and then restore from your iCloud backup. I did this with two iPhones 11 Pro and it worked. Good luck to you.
I phone XS experiencing massive battery drain after installing iOS 13.4.1. Be advised NOT to update to this iOS if you like your battery to last 12 hours. I can sit my phone down while on house WiFi at 8AM and pick it up around 7pm and it’s below 10%. That is a huge fail and is abnormal for my iPhone. No settings were changed since last iOS.

Partial charging can erode capacity.
Unlike some other battery chemistries (such a NiCad), partial charge/discharge of Li-ion batteries has no adverse effect on battery longevity. Allowing batteries to remain in a state of low-charge, by contrast, will damage a Li-ion battery.
I recharge the iPad and iPhone back to 100% after letting them shut down for lack of power. The goal for the phone is also for the battery manager to be able to see how much real power remains.
I am disappointed that Apple does not offer the same battery management on the iPad.
I continue to have rapid battery drain since updating to 13.4.1 last week (iPhone X). I’ve tried every recommendation in this thread to counter the issue with no success.
Prior to the update this device held a charge for 48 hours without discharging completely. The battery drain issue was instant after updating.
After putting in a few hours of research trying to figure out this issue someone recommended checking battery usage of apps and sure enough Siri was running 100%..!..It was suggested to completely turn off Siri on the device and also on iCloud, which I did and it completely fixed the issue immediately.
I was even having Issues with it charging quickly and those issues are also gone.
I believe that the update definitely effected how Siri runs in the background and I suggest you try the same to see if it works for you.
Holy Cow! No joke...I completely wasted 3 hours of my life last night by deleting my iPhone and reloading from backup, all for nothing. It turns out you were right. I turned off Siri and the phone has only used 5% battery in the past 6 hours. That is how it should be. I don’t use Siri and have no plans to in the future. Thanks for that awesome advice as it worked for me. I also turned it off on my iPad. Cheers, to you.
