Deduct a Percentage from a total in Numbers

I have spent 90 minutes hunting for the formula, played with percentile. But I don't understand formulas..

This is a formula I found somewhere but it puts the total into a negative...

Can anyone help to rectify the negative summary?

Hi Hiromar,

Your formula returns a negative result because you are starting with 10% of C2 ( 210 ) and subtracting the amount in C2 ( 2100 ) from that. 210 - 2100 = -1890.

Reversing the order of your formula, to C2-10%*C2 will give the correct result.

That said, my choice would likely be Wayne's formula as it is more compact and does the job more efficiently.

Regards,

Barry
