Reclaiming PC disk space after failed iPhone backup

I have an iPhone XS and needed to backup my phone to my laptop. I forgot to double check the exact disk space before starting the backup (I know I had at least 20GB).

A few minutes later it failed, telling me it had saved what it could, but if I go into the backups folder there's nothing there, and now my laptop only has less than 1GB free storage!

Please help me find out where these files are saved as until I find them and delete them I can't do anything with my laptop.

It appears that the backup failed because of shortage of disk space on your PC. Generally the PC will move an incomplete or a corrupt file in process to a cache or a temp folder to be deleted at some point. You stated that you saw a message on your PC which may have stated that the incomplete file is saved somewhere. Please see this article by Apple ➔ Locate Backups of your iPhone on a Mac or PC and see if you can find the file in the location (folder).

If you cannot file the incomplete backup file anywhere then try just rebooting your PC. Shut it down normally and then restart it. See if that resolves the issue.
