Is there a way to change the size of the font while writing an email in Mail on an iPad / iPhone?
If I copy and paste from another source in a different sized font, that size continues as I type, so Mail must be able to handle different sizes. I just haven’t been able how to change it on purpose.
Any help would be appreciated

I have just stumbled on this:
When typing an email, on the bottom left side of the screen are some icons, starting with scissors. If you are using a physical keyboard, it’s the row that starts with Undo arrow.
The last icon is “Aa”.
Highlight some text, tap the Aa icon, and a formatting menu appears that offers lots of options - far more than just changing the font size.

It’s not elegant at all, but it does work.
in Pages, type a vertical list of the same word, increasing in font size as you go down the page.
Then copy from Pages the word in the font size you want, and paste it into Mail. Then keep typing; the font size will remain. Don’t forget to go back and delete your first pasted word.
You can do this several times in the same email.
SURELY there must be an easier way?!?
I never even thought of how you did this/handle this!
A pretty good idea and workaround.
So, I will have to setup something similar in an app that uses different fonts/typefaces and sizes and set up some text in different sizes.
Other than your method of dealing with this font/typeface issue in iOS Mail, there are no other provisions for altering fonts/typefaces and sizes directly inside of the iOS Mail app.
Never has been.
