iPhone 11Pro Max Automatically Dialed 112

At 4.56am, after being sat on my bedside table all night, my iPhone 11 Pro Max decided to dial emergency services on its own accord. It also sent a text message to my I.C.E. contact, who was asleep beside me.

To make matters worse, once an emergency call has been initiated it locks the phone and makes it exceedingly difficult to reset.

What is Apple playing at with its software? By the way, in the UK, 999 is the emergency services, not 112.

Hello Iphone_emergency_autodial_,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like an emergency call was made accidentally. I'd be happy to share information that may help.

It's certainly not expected for your iPhone to make an emergency call on its own. Were you wearing an Apple Watch while you were sleeping? If so, it may be possible that the Apple Watch initiated the emergency call. Check out this article for more information: Use Emergency SOS on your Apple Watch. If this was the case, you can turn off automatic dialing using the steps in the article.

If you'd like more information about using Emergency SOS on your iPhone, take a look here: Use Emergency SOS on your iPhone.

Take care.
