Gray Highlighting in Numbers

On my Mac- All of my text in my Numbers document is suddenly highlighted gray. It is occurring on all tabs of my document. How can I remove this? There are no 'Conditional Highlights' in place.

Highlighting text to carry out a function I appear to have turned something off on my Mac. No highlight color when I select text Suddenly when I select text or an object there is no highlight color to indicate the selection. Running a MacBook Pro 15" mid-2014, High Sierra 10.13.6.

select all the cells, then change the Cell text formatter. To access the text background open the "Advanced Options" :
