Delete spotlight index automatically on startup and force rebuild?

It seems that MS Outlook search will not work properly, and relies upon the Spotlight index generated by the OS. It seems further that constantly rebuilding this index may reduce the rate of failed searches. But the process for doing this is very cumbersome. Is there some faster, more streamlined (preferably automated) way of deleting and rebuilding the spotlight index on a daily basis?

You can start it either from System Preferences or from Terminal. But either way it performs the same re-index and it takes quite a bit of time to re-index the drive.
