Microphone not working on Skype for business

This issue could be that Microsoft no longer support specifically "Skype for Business" as it is now a consumer product. As such the specific "Skype for business" application might not be getting any further updates. The "business" application from Microsoft is now MS Teams.

I would recommend you try downloading the main Skype application and installing it and seeing if this solves the issue.

This appears to be a known feature of 16.28.175. Microsoft recommends some twisted operations on the TCC.db :(

The better solution appears to be to download 16.28.142 from https://download.microsoft.com/download/D/0/5/D055DA17-C7B8-4257-89A1-78E7BBE3833F/SkypeForBusinessInstaller-16.28.0.120.pkg. Just install over the newer version. As soon as you make a phone call SfB will properly ask for the permissions to access the microphone and life is good again.

Thanks much for suggesting this solution: it solved my problem (video yes but SFB would not allow for mic access). I pre-emptively removed 16.28.175 first before I installed 16.28.120. Today's telecon - FINALLY! - went off without a hitch.

The app doesn't appear in the sec&privacy list.

I had to remove 16.28.175 first before it installed 16.28.120.
