Sold This Ipad -Find My Iphone Issues

Hi! Sold this ipad and forget to remove the device from my account prior to doing so. Sold old phones over the years and always remembered but this is the first I paid I sold. Heard from the new owner that they cant set it up because the "find my iphone" is still linked to my account. When I open my linked devices I dont see it there. Its been sitting in storage for close to a year. Do items drop off the list ever? Who should i contact? Thanks for the help

It’s seldom necessary to give the folks your Apple ID password, and usually best not to.

Use the iCloud mechanisms to remove the Activation Lock and the rest remotely.

Make sure you’re using the same Apple ID, as some folks have devices associated with multiple Apple IDs.

(The Activation Lock prompt provides a hint about which Apple ID is associated with the Activation Lock.)

If that’s not working, you’ll best retrieve it and remove the lock locally, or process a refund.

You will need to give them the Apple ID and password used to set it up, or have them mail it back to you for you to do, well what you should have done before you sold it
