iPad Pro Magic Keyboard/Case

Hello, Magic Keyboard experts! I know that the Magic Keyboard isn't out yet, and the information on it is quite scant, but I have two things on my mind that I cannot seem to find the answers to:

1.) When taking the iPad Pro off of the Magic Keyboard magnet, will the iPad be able to support a protective case on the back of the device to prevent damage if dropped? I use my current iPad Pro in tablet mode often, but I have a full protective keyboard case with a removable keyboard. Removing a bare tablet off of the Magic Keyboard and using it daily without a case seems scary to me.

2.) Does anyone know if the Magic Keyboard can be kept on the device while folding it backward like a folio case? It doesn't appear to be able to do this when I see current images and videos, and this means, in order to use it as a tablet, the device would have to be removed completely from the magnet on the Magic Keyboard. Again, this scares me and makes me feel like I am going to damage the iPad.

Thank you for your help!

As you have already noted, information as to features of the new Magic Keyboard are pretty thin at present. Until reviewers (and customers) start to receive samples, we’re all limited to the information that we see in Apple’s early advertising collateral.

What we do know is that the Keyboard is intended to protect both the front and rear of the iPad when closed. To my knowledge, we’ve not yet seen any photographs that demonstrate the keyboard in a fully-open (i.e. “flat”) configuration. Mechanically, given the visible hinge arrangement, the new keyboard is almost certainly not going to allow the keyboard to be folded back to the rear of the iPad - as you might otherwise expect of a folio-style case.

I hope this provides some helpful insight. We all await news of definitive information about the new product - due for release next month.

Thanks for the reply! I agree with everything you said. It appears that the keyboard is on sale now on the Apple website, so it's only a matter of time for reviewers and and customers release their input. I'm really excited for the keyboard, personally, but I at least hope that I can put a skin or something on the back side of the iPad for when I'm using it in tablet mode.
