NUMBERS for iPad: Date as X-axis of the chart

I have a table with two columns.

In the column A I have all the Dates of a month and in the Column B I have the number of infected by coronavirus day by day.

I would like to plot the chart with the number of infected on the Y-axis and the date on the X-axis. I’m using the 2D Line chart.

Unfortunately, I can select the B column as Reference to have the number of infected on my chart, but I can’t have the dates on the X-axis as legend.

I can do so on Numbers for Mac, and if I send the document to my iPad, the X-axis legend is shown properly, but I don’t know how to create it on the iPad.

How can I do that on the iPad?

Use the 2D Scatter Plot. It’s specifically designed for X-Y plots.

You can use other types of plots with the first column as X, but the first column must be a header column. Also format the column as date and time.

Simple solution: on the iPad, tap the table, then tap the paint brush, then choose headers and footers and change header columns from 0 to 1. This will make column A a header column. Now go to chart references, delete the existing references and create new ones. The new references will behave the same way they do on your Mac, but the dates have to be in a header column first.
