Old Apple ID

I purchased an app with my first iphone many years ago. Since then I changed my apple id. Every time I upgrade phones, I have to remember that old password to use this app and that appleid no longer exists.

If you download it using your new ID, you will have to pay for the app again.

You can try to recover the password.

Enter the Apple (iCloud) ID and click Forgot Password.

Those purchases are tied to the other ID and can't be transferred. One option is to delete the apps/purchases made by the other ID and download them using the new ID if desired. If necessary, check your purchases history to see which apps/purchases weren’t made by the current ID.

If I delete it can I restore without paying for it? Only expensive app I've ever purchased. Can I get to my old appleid to get the password?

No, you changed your Apple ID so the old Apple ID is irrelevant--as is the related password.
