Only get notifications if I look at the phone IOS 13.3.1

Notifications come to my phone, but there is no sound unless I look at the phone. In Settings Notifications are allowed, set to lock Screen, Notif. Center, and Banners. Sound is set for several apps (e.g. Bell for texts). Yesterday I restarted the phone and it went back to playing the sound immediately when the Notification came in. Today, I won't be notified unless I pick up the phone and look at it.

Any ideas?

Greetings, Brady.

I see that you're not hearing notification sounds when you receive a notification on the lock screen of your phone. You only hear it when you lift your phone, and I'm glad to help with this.

About Attention Aware features on your iPhone X or iPad Pro -- If the phone you're using also uses Face ID, go to Settings > Face ID & Passcodes, and turn off Attention Aware Features. Then restart your iPhone: Restart your iPhone. Once it's back to the Home screen, turn Attention Aware Features back on and test the issue.

Let me know how that goes.

Take care.

I am encouraged that the restarting your iPhone worked at least for a day.

  1. Force Restart your iPhone as instructed in this article by Apple ➔ How to Force ReStart your iPhone. If that does not work then-
  2. Update your iPhone to iOS 13.4.1 (You appear to be running iOS 13.3.1)
