iphone messages has wrong date

Hi. My question is essentially the same as this person's https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8618542 but on my iPhone 11. Messages is dating recent "texts" as July 2020 (future date). When a new message comes in, it makes the alert noise, but the message doesn't come over and the message thread for that person doesn't rise to the top of the list of contacts. Then randomly the message shows as it's gone through.

Hi szugmeyer,

Thank you for posting! As I understand it, you're seeing messages coming in that show a date of July, and you're not seeing notifications. That's something I would be looking into myself, and I'm glad to see how I can help.

To clarify, did you already check your settings under Settings > General > Date & Time?

Also, you mentioned texts. Is this only happening with SMS (green bubbles), or is it happening with iMessages as well? If the issue is only with SMS, I recommend making sure both your iPhone and carrier settings are updated. If they are, and the issue persists, your best bet is contacting your carrier since they handle SMS functionality.

Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad

Hope that helps! Take care.
