Watch - Fall detection

My Apple Watch series 5 (watchOS6.1.3) often thinks I've fallen. It used to be a few times a week but now it's several times a day. Is there a sensitivity adjustment for this? Is the sensitivity based on activity or age (ie, if I change my parameters or workout routines, will it stop coming on so frequently)?

For example, today it asked if I fell when I was repotting a plant, when I placed a bag of groceries down, and when I closed a door. In none of these cases did my arm drop to the ground, but it stopped and then moved again, and after that the Watch asked if I had fallen (yes, after I was moving).

Thanks!

Hi bilberry,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I see you're having an issue with false fall detection with your Apple Watch, and I'd like to help.

Have you verified that your health information is correct in the Health app on your iPhone? It's important that your height and weight are entered correctly. Use the Health app on your iPhone or iPod touch

Then, if it happens again without falling, then unpair and set up your watch again.

Unpair and erase your Apple Watch

Set up your Apple Watch

You may need to turn the fall detection back on again after your watch is paired again. Use fall detection with Apple Watch

If you're still having issues with the false detection, I'd recommend contacting Apple Support, so they can look further into why this is happening.

Take care!
