Making a DVD

I just finished loading stills, transitions and audio into FCE and would like to make several DVD's of this. How do I proceed?

In FCE, do the following, in order:

*Sequence > Render All > Both*
*Sequence > Render Only > Mixdown*
Save your project
Export to *QuickTime Movie*
... if you created chapter markers, select Include > Chapter Markers
... UNcheck the option called "Make Movie Self-Contained"
... Save your movie ... and remember where you saved it

Then, in iDVD, do the following, in order:
*iDVD > Preferences > Projects > Video Mode:* NTSC (USA setting)
*iDVD > Preferences > Projects > Encoding:* High Quality or Professional Quality
*iDVD > Preferences > Movies:* Create Chapter Submenus
*File > New* (create a new project ... you must do this after changing Preference settings)
*File > Import > Video* (to import the QT Movie you exported from FCE)

Martin, I copied out the very helpful steps you described in this July 20 thread. But I found I could not set the preferences in iDVD until I had created a new project, as they were greyed out. When I created a new project I gave it the name I wanted, then I was able to set the preferences as you described. Then in the next File > New step I gave the project its final name. It all worked out fine and the movie is being distributed among my family, but I could not follow the exact order that you described. Should I have opened an existing project first in order to set the preferences?

Thank you very much for all the valuable information you give on this forum. It's a great help. Keith
