New ipad pro 2020 - portrait mode

Yes, you are correct. Apple is doing fine being apple centric now... Blackberry and Nokia too were doing good once upon a time. My frustration was very simple, if front camera has that function, then why can’t rear camera not having portrait function?

Personally, I could care less if iPad takes portrait photos. The form factor for iPad, makes it, IMHO, a poor device to use for photos. I use my phone or my DSLR for photos and I use my iPad for editing them.

The difference is Apple is still here and RIM, Nokia, Palm. Psion, etc., are all gone and been gone for quite some time.

This is such a dirty trick that there rear iSight camera for portrait mode. . Why give the option of portrait if you can’t take a portrait mode with the too pricey, less usable features I am so disappointed? Too bad the person who sold me this big frigging iPad never told me. My sight is failing as a senior and even tho I have the biggest screen iPhone 12 pro, I cannot afford another pricey Apple device to take portraits, like an iPad Air . Geesh. I think I took portraits from my regular iPad, that I used for reading. I need the pro for reading. Again, it’s just a pricey reader. As a senior in isolation, and a neglected senior woman at that,what a huge disappointment. I thought Apple products were better than that.

I am really annoyed and feel let down. I have spent over £1,100 on a 2020 12.9 iPad Pro only to find that I can’t use the lidar on the front camera in portrait mode. It is disgraceful. I can’t think what apple were thinking.

I support the need to have portrait mode on the best camera in the iPad Pro 2020. Someone a sleep at the wheel on this one.

Hmm no, the 2 lenses are optical cameras with different f apertures, the lidar sensor is the dark circle. I do however wholesomely agree with you on purchasing expensive kit with no research.

Do you people understand you are not addressing Apple on this user to user only forum. You can all agree till cows fly, but that doesn't change the fact that iPad Pro doesn't take Portrait Photos and Apple isn't here on this forum to hear you all agree or lament this.

The fact that there is no portrait mode on the iPad Pro 2020 makes absolutely no sense. Has any of the “Genius’s” at Apple tried to do a selfie with 12” pro. Probably the biggest disappointment with my purchase!

I know how you feel Roccman. I feel let down, too. I have a new iPhone 12 plus but my eyesight is not as good as it was when I was in my 50s, so even with a great smart camera phone, I feel let down, too. I see the whole landscape so much better with my iPad Pro. Maybe they can fix it in an upgrade. Do you think?

I also have the ipad pro 2020. It is really bad experience that the rear camera can not take photo in portrait mode. It has LiDar camera and powerful chip. Why not support portrait mode in rear camera?
