Jul 19, 2010 3:36 PM in response to r23wby Pietro Esteves,Have you tried the 'Books' tab in the iPad/iPhone's sync menu? Try selecting the books you wanna sync. Keep in mind 'Sample' books don't sync, since you didn't actually bought 'em -
Jul 19, 2010 3:38 PM in response to Pietro Estevesby r23w,Yeah I've already tried that, doesn't change anything. -
Jul 19, 2010 5:48 PM in response to r23wby Alex S. H.,I'm having the same problem, I had it when iBooks first came out, then all of the sudden my books showed up in it one day. But ever since I downloaded a preview of a book from the store all the books are gone again. -

Jul 25, 2010 11:56 AM in response to Colin Robinsonby Drusus,I have the same problem. Since the the new update to iBooks, I can no longer synch any new pdf files into the app. I have checked the option to select some books, and all the titles I currently have on my ipad show up as being present, as does my new title. I have also made sure that the in the 'Get Info|Options section for the title that "Books" is selected.
But no matter how many times I synch, which takes for ever, the new title does not show up on my ipad.
Also what really drives me up the pole is how long itunes states that it is 'synching Andrew's ipad' then the spinning ball sits for 5 to ten minuets, then insists on backing up my ipad, even though it was backed up last night!
Even then, no book on my ipad.
So to even ascertain if a title is being transferred or not, takes around 30 mins. An hour and half if it backs up as well. -
Jul 25, 2010 3:48 PM in response to Drususby OzziesMAC,Same here I am unable to sync new pdf files, plus sometimes it takes a lot longer than normal for itunes to even see the ipad is connected. I am also having problems with my movies going away after the sync when it finally does sync. All these issues started at the last ipad update.
The one good thing to report is that iPhone syncs to Vernon router and stays locked on now! woo hoo finally. The downside is this update introduced new bugs. -
Jul 25, 2010 4:48 PM in response to OzziesMACby almograve,Same issue here.
ePub books (converted by Calibre) do show up in iTunes but they don't sync on the iPad.
iPad is setup to sync all books. -
Jul 27, 2010 4:22 AM in response to r23wby Steve Fahmie,I just purchased an audiobook for the express purpose of listening to it today on my iphone...but can't sync it to my iphone. When I click on the Books tab in iTunes nothing is listed. It only allows my to select "All Books" to be synced...yet no books sync at all. What's going on w/ Apple's quality control?!? -
Jul 29, 2010 10:58 AM in response to almograveby Drusus,Okay, further to my post above, i know some of you have been, like myself experiencing problems with moving files over to your i-ph0ne or ipad using the iBooks section. But I have a solution for you.
For some reason, iBooks does not appear to be able to read & open our pdf and epub files etc after synching, but I have looked and can confirm that the files are copied over into the iBooks directory
I have found a way around this which makes sure your files are copied over, and more importantly opened by iBooks.
Although some of you have reported that you converted your files into epub format using Calibre, these have failed to work.
But, If you Stanza Desktop to export your document as a epub file, then bring it into the books section in itunes as normal, select it in the iBooks section when your device is connected, you will find that it will work!
Its really very simple, and once you have the Stanza desktop program on your commuter, it will make the process very quick and easy.
It works for converting
doc
rtf
pub
txt
pdf
and many others
The Stanza Desktop is available from the following link
http://www.lexcycle.com/download
Please note, I have only tried this with Mac computers running OS X 10.6.4, but probably
Hope this helps some of you. the Windows version will work as well, but ~I cannot tester that. -
Aug 1, 2010 1:00 AM in response to Drususby bkwyrm,I have the same problem, but the problem does not lie with Calibre, as books I have converted using calibre work fine... Sometimes, as do those downloaded directly into ePub format from sites like manybooks and Gutenberg. All the books show up in iTunes, but their appearance in iBooks (iPhone 4g) is random. I am sad about this, especially with this many people having like problems. I have tried re-syncing, rebooting... Apple, help!!!

Aug 9, 2010 8:33 AM in response to r23wby picasso30,Same issue here with my iPhone 4. I'm currently waiting on the FedEx person to deliver my iPad, so you all have me a little worried about reading books and PDFs - the whole reason I got it (for grad school). I'm hoping I won't have to lug my 17" MBP to class everyday.
I tried this: I re-downloaded one of the books I had (a free book called The Art of War). Previously, I had made notes, highlights, and bookmarks in this book on my iPhone4. When I downloaded it again, a window came up saying something like, you already have this, do you want it again? Yes. When it downloaded again all of my notes, highlights, and bookmarks were there.
I realize this is a temporary fix, but it worked nonetheless. Hopefully the next update will address the bug.
Good luck to you all.

Aug 14, 2010 4:29 AM in response to Drususby AstroMacMan,This sounds very promising. I'm very familiar with Stanza Desktop, but how does this work with iBooks!
Could you provide a couple of steps? How do I get books that are in iBooks to be exported via the Stanza Desktop? Thanks!
