Portrait Mode Software Update?

What are the odds of a software update for IPhone 8 that gives similar camera features as the new IPhone SE (2nd Gen)? And how long do people think that will take?

Seems Apple has found a way to offer these camera features with the IPhone SE which features similar (single) camera lens as the IPhone 8. I know the processors are different but will Apple find a way to give IPhone 8 users this feature, too, or should I just upgrade to the IPhone SE?
