Does anybody know how I can make it connect? My 4G is on but it is as though it isn't. I have tried removing the sim, turning off and on again and resetting all my data, wifi and phone settings.

I see you are having an issue with getting 4G connection speed on your iPhone.
Given what you report already having tried, this is likely an issue on the source end (the carrier) and not the receiver end (your iPhone).
About the LTE options on your iPhone - Apple Support
If you are experiencing non-4G speed in areas where it is supposed to be available, reach out to your carrier.
