Can parents access the discount price to purchase an iPad for their learners at home? Ford announced a discount from Apple for school boards to purchase iPads for families in need. We are a family of 5 with 1 iMac in our home. We would be interested in purchasing some new devices, and keeping costs down will be important during current economic times.
Those eligible to purchase from the Apple Store for Education Individuals include faculty, staff, students and parents as follows:
K12 - Any employee of a public or private K-12 institution in the United States is eligible, including homeschool teachers. In addition, school board members who are currently serving as elected or appointed members are eligible. PTA or PTO executives currently serving as elected or appointed officers are eligible.
Higher Education - Faculty and staff of Higher Education institutions in the United States; and students attending, or accepted into a Higher Education institution in the United States are eligible to purchase. Purchases from the Apple Store for Education Individuals are not for institutional purchase or resale.
Higher Education Parents - Parents purchasing on behalf of their child, who is a student currently attending or accepted into a public or private Higher Education Institution in the United States, are eligible to purchase.

Unfortunately, unless you fall into those qualifications, you will be unable to purchase at a discount. There are many stores that are offering discounts on Apple products (new, used, and refurbished). You may want to look into those options.
Ontario just announced a partnership with Apple to get discounted iPads for the home learning program to be distributed to school boards- would be a better discount than the educators discount. Just wondering if parents will be offered that same discount for their children as 21000 devices for all of Ontario- my kids won’t get one. But I have financial means to purchase so my kids have access to the home learning program. Wondering if we could get the same discount as I have 3 kids and would use the Ontario credit we were given to purchase.
That would go through the Ontario School Board/District.
