Catalina install locked MacBook Pro at start-up loading screen

Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, 2015) following Catalina install is stuck at the start-up loading screen. Loading bar locked at about an 1/8th of the way for an hour now.. Updated from Mojave. What do I do to fix this?

Shut down the computer, wait 30 seconds, then restart. See if the installation picks up where it left off or if you return to your prior system's Desktop. If the latter, then try this:

Repair the Drive for El Capitan or Later

  1. Restart the computer. Immediately, at or before the chime, hold down the Command and R keys until the Apple logo and progress bar appear. Wait until the Utility Menu appears.
  2. Select Disk Utility and press the Continue button.
  3. Then select the indented (usually, Macintosh HD) volume entry from the side list.
  4. Click on the First Aid button in the toolbar and wait for the Done button to activate. Click on it, then quit Disk Utility.
  5. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

Now, try your upgrade again.
