Macbook doesn't support max. resolution of external display and detects 21" monitor as 47"

I'm using an old Fujitsu monitor for a second display. I'm connecting the monitor with a VGA to Type-C adapter. However, I can't get the monitor's highest resolution value which is 1600x900@60Hz. I checked the adapter with another laptop, it worked just fine. I tried resetting NVRAM, starting on Safe Mode, using 3rd software but none of it worked.

After that I checked and saw that my laptop is seeing the display as 47". I don't know if that's because of the scaling but I thought it might be useful information.

I'm running on macOS Catalina 10.15.2, I tried holding down option and clicking the scale button on displays menu, 1600x900 was not on the list.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me, thanks in advance.

Oh I didn't know that, thanks a lot. I was actually referring to that I use a HD15 interface, I checked the manual of the monitor and it says it supports 1920x1080. I have used the same monitor with the same cable over several computers and they all worked at better resolutions than I work with now (which is 1280x800 without stretching or cropping).
