TV app vs. hardware

Just got a new TV with Apple TV app. Previously had been using the Apple TV box and all worked well. I am overseas and I’m finding that a lot of content is “not available” in my region (EGYPT). I wanted to watch Belgravia...not available. Then The Bureau on Sundance...not available. Anyone know if here’s a difference between tha app and the hardware. I don’t have this problem with Netflix at all.

The Apple TV app is not a complete replacement for the Apple TV hardware. The Apple TV app is a small part of what the Apple TV hardware has to offer.

E.g.

- The Apple TV hardware has the option to download and install third party apps for third party services, from the tvOS App Store.

- The Apple TV hardware features additional Apple services such as Music, Podcasts, and Photos.

- The Apple TV hardware features Home Sharing.
