Hi thortha,
Thanks for the post. It's important to make sure your Mac is running as you expect, and I'd like to learn more about what's happening to see how I can assist.
For clarification, are you referring to Microsoft Office? Also, when you say it doesn't function, what's happening? Be sure to include any error messages you see.
As a general starting point, clicking Apple menu () > Restart might be helpful. Also, testing an issue in safe mode and a new user account can be useful in narrowing things down. You'll find the steps for these below:
How to use safe mode on your Mac
How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac
Feel free to reply back with the answers to the questions above. If you test in safe mode and a new user, be sure to include the results.
Take care.
Hi i_rina
Thank you for your reply.
Sorry I meant Microsoft Office.
The problem is that when I now open say Word I cannot edit an existing file. Word will not allow it.
I have been advised to purchase the latest version of Office and reinstall. Not sure if there is another way around this problem.
Thank you for your time and take care.
Hi there thortha,
Thank you for replying. Have you checked in with Microsoft directly? Depending on exactly what happens when you try editing existing files, it may be worth reaching out as they would be in the best position to assist with an issue like this: Contact Office Support
Kind regards.
