Hi! Half of my playlists on my Mac just don't have any possibility to download them. Can't find any buttons etc., but I would like to get this fixed. Someone?

Hey there andromedas09,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues with downloading playlist on your Mac. I’ll be happy to help.

Are these Apple Music playlist? If so, and you don’t see an option to download the playlist, have you checked to make sure they are not already downloaded? To verify, click View > Only Downloaded Music from the Mac menu bar while Music is the active app. Check and see if the songs from the playlists show.

If that doesn’t work, make sure your Mac is up to date:

Restart your Mac:

Then see if you can download your music then:

Add and download music from Apple Music or buy music from the iTunes Store

Regards.

Hi andromedas09,

Thanks for going through those steps. To verify, do you see any on the cloud status icons from the following article next to the songs in your library?

Identify cloud status icons in your music library on your Mac or PC

If so, that article can give more info on why the songs are not downloading. If you don’t see this, check your Mac storage and see if there is enough space available to download the music:

How to free up storage space on your Mac

Also, try downloading different songs and see if any of them will work. If the issue continues, create a new user account on your Mac, log into your Apple ID account, and try downloading a playlist there. This can help us identify is this is a system wide issue or just something related to your user account:

If you still have issues, let me know if you can play these songs without issue as well.

Take care.

I see that different "specialist" comment above. But your solution is not what the original poster or me and if you take a look many others are looking for. For some weird reason Apple have removed the option to download a complete playlist, here is a screenshot of my Apple Music, I can remove downloaded music, I can download one and one song, but with 1082 songs in a playlist that is not a option. I reinstalled my Mac and everything was fine, then I updated to latest version and the download cloud symbol was missing. If I go to albums I can download them one by one also, but don't call that a solution. I think Spotify is getting a new customer very soon.

Hi andromedas09,

When you go to a playlist in Apple Music, you should see +ADD near the top right of the playlist. Click that and then click the download icon as well. Take a look at these articles for more info:

Add and download music on Mac

Add and download music from Apple Music or buy music from the iTunes Store

If you continue to have issues downloading a playlist, you’ll want to reach out to Apple Support at the following link to look further into this with you:

Take care.
